Amatino at Teagasc’s “Transferring the Family Farm” Clinic in Monaghan

On Tuesday, 14th October 2025, Amatino was delighted to participate in Teagasc’s Transferring the Family Farm Clinic at the Hillgrove Hotel in Monaghan. The event brought together farmers, families, and professionals to discuss one of the most important topics in Irish agriculture — the smooth and sustainable transfer of family farms to the next generation.

Representing Amatino were two of our directors, Patrick Cunningham and Ashley Maguire, who were invited to consult with and offer advice on farm succession and inheritance tax planning. Their advices focused on practical and financial considerations for farmers planning to pass on their land or business, highlighting key reliefs and strategies available under Irish tax law.

Patrick and Ashley discussed essential topics such as:

  • Capital Acquisitions Tax (CAT) and available agricultural reliefs
  • Capital Gains Tax (CGT) retirement relief and how it applies to farm transfers
  • The importance of early planning and clear communication within families
  • How professional advice can prevent costly mistakes and ensure a fair, tax-efficient transition

The session generated great engagement, with attendees asking thoughtful questions about real-world scenarios and long-term planning.

Amatino is proud to support events like this that help family-run farms protect their future while navigating complex legal and tax obligations. We thank Teagasc for organising such an informative and well-attended clinic and look forward to continuing to work with the farming community across Monaghan and beyond.
