The Health & Safety Authority have just launched a new assessment tool online called Taking Care of Business. This handy tool is targeted at small business owners with the aim on making them aware of the health and safety legislation which they must comply with.

Small businesses can log on and use the service for free. Simply, register and input the sector you operate in and follow the step by step process. This allows the tool to tailor the hazards and survey to your specific sector, for example a takeaway will have food safety hazards which an engineering business will not have. The tool prompts the user with questions regarding the operation of their business and then highlights the hazards present in the workplace. This free assessment can help businesses of all sizes to implement an accurate Health and Safety programme and action list to help avoid hazards and injuries.
