The repercussions from the decision by the UK to exit the EU is going to have major ramifications for Ireland. The UK is a very significant trading partner with Ireland . Approximately 50% of exports from indigenous Irish companies are destined for the UK. Anything that affects the trading relationship with the U.K from an Irish perspective is very significant.

Monaghan Local Community Development Committee (LCDC) in partnership with Monaghan Integrated Development as the Implementing partner and Monaghan County Council as Financial partner for the new LEADER programme in the county are delighted to announce that their LEADER Local Development Strategy has been recently approved by Government.
The new LEADER programme for Monaghan will bring much needed funding into the county for the development of enterprise and tourism, community and social inclusion and environmental projects with an indicative funding allocation of 7.6millon euro.
It just remains for the LEADER programme to be launched nationally and contracts to be signed by the partners with the Minister for Regional Development, Rural Affairs, Arts and the Gaeltacht, Heather Humphreys TD over the coming weeks. It is expected that the new LEADER programme will be formally launched shortly and funding calls will issue soon thereafter. All the partners involved are looking forward to seeing the continued positive impact of LEADER on the rural communities of county Monaghan.
